The political thriller-drama Yellow Letters follows a respected Turkish artistic couple, actress Derya and theatre director Aziz. After an unexpected political incident occurs at the premiere of their play, they suddenly lose their jobs overnight due to state intervention and receive official “yellow letters” of dismissal, setting in motion the painful and complete breakdown of their family relationships and ideals. This layered and socially engaged film is directed by award-winning filmmaker İlker Çatak. Its strength lies in its direct and sharp examination of the cost of artistic freedom, censorship, and the powerlessness of individuals in the face of an authoritarian state apparatus. The film achieved major success at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the festival’s top prize, the Golden Bear for Best Film. 🎟️ Tickets can be purchased at the Art-kino box office (open every day one hour before the first screening) or via the CoreEvent platform.
