Manhattan Short 2026

As has become a tradition, the much-loved Manhattan Short film festival returns to Art-kino for Rijeka audiences — one world, one week, one festival! It is worth noting that Manhattan Short is not a travelling film festival, but an event that takes place simultaneously in cinemas around the world, with the audience serving as the main jury. Each year, the festival presents ten selected short films, all of which are eligible for the Academy Awards. The 29th edition will take place from September 24 to October 4, 2026, in more than 500 cities across six continents, attracting over 100,000 film lovers. The rules remain the same this year: the ten finalists are selected by a professional festival jury, while the winner is chosen by the audience. Upon attending the programme, each viewer receives a ballot and selects their favourite film. The winner is then announced worldwide at the end of the festival.
