The French satirical drama The Richest Woman in the World tells a story of power loosely inspired by the scandal surrounding the heiress to the L’Oréal empire. The film follows Marianne Farrère, an eccentric billionaire whose life revolves around preserving the reputation of her cosmetics company. Her world is turned upside down after she meets Pierre-Alain, a younger and calculating writer and photographer. When their friendship develops into lavish financial gifts, Marianne’s daughter files a lawsuit alleging the exploitation of a vulnerable person. This sharp and incisive film is directed by Thierry Klifa. The leading role is brilliantly portrayed by iconic actress Isabelle Huppert, while her companion is played by Laurent Lafitte. Marina Foïs and Raphaël Personnaz portray Marianne’s daughter and butler, respectively. Following its premiere at Cannes, the film achieved great success, with Lafitte receiving the prestigious national César Award.
