Gorki Božić

The Spanish tragicomedy Gorki Božić (Bitter Christmas) weaves together two interconnected stories set during the holiday season. The first follows Elsa, an advertising executive who is going through a personal crisis after her mother’s death in 2004. The second focuses on director Raúl, who in 2026 writes a screenplay about Elsa in an attempt to overcome his creative block. This lavish metafilm is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. The leading roles are brilliantly portrayed by Bárbara Lennie and Leonardo Sbaraglia. The ensemble cast also includes Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Victoria Luengo, and Milena Smit. The film premiered at Cannes, where it won the award for Best Soundtrack.
