The story follows Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon), two musicians who, after witnessing a mob shooting, go on the run from gangsters. To save themselves, they disguise themselves as women, take the names Josephine and Daphne, and join an all-female jazz band on a tour to Florida. The situation becomes increasingly complicated when both fall in love with the enchanting singer Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), while Jerry is simultaneously pursued by the persistent millionaire Osgood.
