Bruno Paladin celebrates fifty years of artistic work with a new cycle created over the past few years. The solo exhibition “Iconography, Line and Color” brings together watercolors on recycled paper and collages in which fish and torpedo silhouettes meet geometric networks. The artist from Rijeka thus connects natural and industrial motifs, allowing order and chaos to alternate within the painting. Works and motifs • Paladin forms some of his works by cutting and reassembling painted segments into collages. • Art historian Zlatko Tot recognizes in his works several scenes from the same film shown at once. He compares their melancholic atmosphere to the moment after waking up, when sleep is still close, but its content is already escaping us. Half a Century of Creativity • Paladin held his first solo exhibition in 1976 at the Small Salon. The new cycle is part of the preparations for a future major retrospective, not a final overview of his work to date. • Zlatko Tot describes Paladin's journey from the ship's deck to galleries and biennials as an example of an artistic life that was determined not only by rules and plans, but also by the willingness to surrender to the unexpected.
