Families who continue to live after the cameras leave and children who grow up among the ruins are part of the book "Scars Without Wounds" by Ljiljana Haidar Diab. Drawing on her own experiences and encounters in war zones, the author writes about the invisible consequences of war and loss, and everyday attempts to overcome fear. She shapes personal testimony with restraint and honesty, connecting individual destinies with issues of resilience, compassion, and what a person manages to preserve after great losses. About the author • Ljiljana Haidar Diab is a Croatian author, journalist, and president of the Image and Word Association, which promotes literature, film, photography, and culture through cultural projects, forums, exhibitions, and author programs. • For many years, she has followed international political and social events, especially in the Middle East. As a lifelong and professional companion of war reporter Hassan Haidar Diab, she got to know countries, cultures, and people marked by wars, migrations, and major social changes. • Travels and conversations with people who survived the suffering of war have become the basis of her literary work. In the autobiographical books "Love in the Shadow of Wars" and "Scars Without Wounds", she combines personal confession with a documentary approach, writing about love, war, identity, belonging, loss and hope, with attention to human dignity.
