✦ STILL LIFE, ALIVE QUESTIONS ✦ Interdisciplinary walk through the MMSU holdings October 30 | 5:30–6:30 PM Hosts: Daniela Torjan and Ivana Golob Mihić Age: 18+ What can artworks, flowers, customs – and even food – tell us about death? 💀 We invite you to another interdisciplinary walk through a selection of artworks from the MMSU collections! This time we are joined by Daniela Torjan, an educator and ethnobotany enthusiast, with whom museum pedagogue Ivana Golob Mihić will talk about death. Inspired by the customs and holidays that lie ahead, they took a look at the museum's storage rooms and selected works that raise various questions about the topic. We will not approach death exclusively seriously and solemnly, but will explore the diverse, sometimes unexpected ways in which artists approach it. Because death is also a part of life – perhaps more present than we think at first glance. We will talk about the symbolism of flowers, customs, and even food, and discover how art and everyday life are intertwined. ✦ Join us for a walk and conversation! Participation is free, and prior registration is not required. On the cover: Vlaho Bukovac, Mrs. Tartaglia on the scaffold, 1885, oil on canvas, from the MMSU Painting Collection.
