In the new staging of Zajč's most famous opera "Nikola Šubić Zrinjski", Dora Ruždjak Podolski seeks a different perspective on the work that the audience knows well. The theatre saw in her directorial imagination and willingness to make bold moves an opportunity for a performance that will remain in the repertoire of the Rijeka Opera for years. About the production • The premiere and first reruns were conducted by Ville Matvejeff, the principal guest conductor of the Rijeka Opera. The theatre highlights his work on Zajč's opera as a rare, perhaps previously unrecorded example of a conductor of non-Slavic origin conducting this work. • In the premiere performance, the title role was sung by the Opera's champion Robert Kolar, and his wife Eva by the champion Kristina Kolar. Jelena and Juranić were played by Anamarija Knego and Aljaž Farasin.
