For shelter dogs, a day in Kastavska šuma means new smells, exploration, and the attention of people who take them for a walk. For the fourth year, the Rijeka Animal Welfare Society's Dog Shelter has been collaborating with the Coordination Working Group for Animal Protection of the County of Zagreb (KRAS) on a get-together that helps dogs socialize and introduces walkers to the care of abandoned animals and the daily work of the shelter. Owners with their dogs can also join in. Event information Gathering and route • Walkers gather in front of Crekvina, at the entrance to Kastavska šuma, and the walk begins at 10:00. • The route is about 7 km long, with about 200 m of ascent, and the walk lasts approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the pace of the group. • Before leaving, you can learn more about the work of the shelter at the information stand. How to participate • Anyone who wants to walk a dog from the shelter comes to the shelter, chooses their four-legged companion and returns it to the shelter after the walk. The shelter is located along the Viškovo – Kastav road, in the extension of the new Kastav cemetery. • Walkers who are familiar with the Kastav Forest can set off on one of the marked trails, Puž or Zec, at their own pace without a guide.
