The following programme will take place on Saturday, 10 October 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Juraj Klović Gallery, Verdijeva 19 b, Rijeka. It will be led by Rijeka-based choreographer, performer and educator Žak Branko Valenta. The programme, “Orientations of the Body: Queer Phenomenology and the Choreographic Archive in Gallery Space,” brings together performance practice, theoretical reflection and active audience participation. It includes a screening of the performance Chez Michou (The Mystery of Blue), a live presentation of the original work The Thing, and a lecture followed by a participatory discussion with the audience. At the heart of the programme are the themes of queer phenomenology, bodily disorientation, the choreographic archive and the temporal dimension of dance practice. Particular attention will be given to the concept of “holding the dance timeline in your practice” — an exploration of how different temporalities, experiences, traces and memories of dance can be retained and reactivated within artistic practice.
