GALERIJA “ZAJC”

Zajc Theatre Gallery – A Unique New Perspective on Theatre in Croatia Visit the newly renovated “Zajc” Theatre Gallery, a journey through the theatrical magic and heritage of the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc in Rijeka! The permanent exhibition of the “Zajc” Gallery is located in the dynamic space of two side staircases and the so-called “Klimt Viewpoint”, a gallery on the highest floor of the Theatre building. Visitors are invited to explore how theatrical magic is created through set design, lighting, costumes and other elements. You can see hats and costumes, read valuable historical documents, view photographs and discover numerous anecdotes from the Theatre’s history. An important part of the exhibition also offers insight into how the Theatre operates today, including all the departments and workshops involved in the complex and creative process of preparing and producing performances. Visitors’ impressions and memories of the Theatre, from both distant and more recent times, form a “Time Capsule” that will be continuously expanded. The “Klimt Viewpoint” offers a unique perspective on the early works of the renowned Gustav Klimt, which were created specifically for the ceiling of the Rijeka Theatre and will soon be returned to their original location.
