Giselle The ballet Giselle is a landmark work that has remained an essential part of the dance repertoire ever since its triumphant Paris premiere in 1841 and is widely regarded as one of the most significant works of Romantic ballet. The music by Adolphe Adam, the two acts with their distinctly different atmospheres, and the seamless unity of music, movement, acting and dance are among the elements that have given Giselle its lasting place in the world of classical ballet. Giselle marked a turning point in the development of classical ballet. The contrast between the realism of the first act and the fantastical world of the second, “white” act became a model for many of the great ballet masterpieces that followed. The ballet premiered in Paris in 1841. Jules Perrot and Jean Coralli left a lasting mark on ballet history with their choreography, while the libretto was written by Théophile Gautier, Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges and Jean Coralli, based on the German writer Heinrich Heine’s story about fairies and spirits. https://hnk-zajc.mojekarte.hr/
