He graduated from the Gabrijel Jurkić School of Fine Arts, specializing in graphic design, and later studied languages, literature, and marketing. After spending five years in Belgium, he moved to Leipzig, where he currently lives and writes. He is the author of the short story collections Summer Hymns (2015) and Don’t Go to Anderlecht (2022), while Certified Copy (2025) is his debut novel. From his residency motivation letter The central theme of this year’s residency—the search for meaning—closely reflects the subjects explored throughout Gavrilović’s literary work. In Don’t Go to Anderlecht, the experience of emigration and the feeling of generational displacement form the backdrop of a quiet search for purpose.
