ANJA ŠTEFAN: “Bobi and the Little Boat”, directed by Ajda Rooss The musical puppet performance “Bobi and the Little Boat” is based on a fairy tale by acclaimed Slovenian author Anja Štefan. It premiered as part of the 10th Tobogan Festival this summer at the Children’s House, produced by the Rijeka City Puppet Theatre. The performance brings a warm, poetic story for children that gently opens the door to the world of imagination and to their first life and theatre experiences. Anja Štefan’s work is characterised by warmth, rhythmic language and a deep respect for the child’s playful perception of the world. The boy Bobi lives by a lake, where every day he sails his paper boats and dreams of becoming a captain one day. When his dreams unexpectedly come true, he sets off on a real journey. But the journey is not an easy one. Together with his friends, he discovers that their differences make the journey richer and that they can reach their destination only through cooperation. The story gently reminds us that mistakes are also part of the journey — and a valuable source of learning. The performance is designed as a puppet production featuring two actors, six puppets and accordion accompaniment, creating a soft and emotional soundscape.
