Zoom + Igralke Festival: Nevjerojatno nepoznat slučaj Slavka G. iz Kutine

The project is inspired by details from the poorly documented biography of Slavko Goldschmidt, a theatre actor who was deported to the Jasenovac concentration camp during World War II, where he was a member of the camp’s theatre group. It is a poetic contemplation on memory and art — on the question of how to reconstruct material so scarce and fragile that every attempt at concretisation raises more questions than it provides answers. For this reason, the performance is primarily a tribute to art and to the fact that, even in the most brutal times, art can become a means of creating something meaningful amid the absurdity of violence — shaping something in spaces of silence and emptiness that connects people and gives them at least a glimpse of hope in the struggle against totalitarianism and death. How do you create a theatre performance or an opera concert without a dramatic text, libretto, or musical score? Without sets, costumes, instruments, or stage lighting? Or, ultimately, without professional performers to interpret the material? It may not be impossible, but it is certainly challenging, raising questions about the quality and appeal of what we see on stage. What audiences seek in the performing arts is virtuosity and brilliance, theatrical refinement, visual impressiveness, and inspired musical interpretation.
