Your Play [The Rijeka Youth theatre]

In this satirical play set in the fictional country of Experimentia, we meet Bethanie and Ringo Rawlings — a sister trying to escape society and a brother who runs the country. Around them are parents obsessed with success, profit-hungry executives, citizens trapped behind screens, and a system that turns people into obedient consumers. Through a series of witty, absurd, and sometimes brutally honest scenes, the play dissects contemporary society: political populism, nepotism, capitalism, generational conflicts, and the mass emigration of young people. The play is both a comedy of the absurd and a bitter social diagnosis, telling the story of people searching for meaning in a world that constantly convinces them that their worth depends on how much they produce, consume, or represent themselves to others. The cast includes high school students and Ena Ban, Jan Ilić, Lara Soldatić, Mia Butorac, Elena Babić, Lucija Vrsalović, Lara Mohović, Ema Ešler, Ivana Barišić, Iris Mihočić, Greta Jerković, Alex Škorić, Lara Zatezalo, Kira Medošević, and Matej Škarić. The play is directed by Lisa Mihelec, with Hana Tomulić as assistant director. This is a production by TRY Theatre, the first theatre for children and young people in Croatia performing in English. The play is performed in English with Croatian subtitles. The text was written by award-winning playwright Ivan Verunica. Duration: 90 minutes Admission is free, with the option to make a donation.
