The exhibition can be viewed at Kitchen MMSU until August 30, 2026. This process began with a long-duration performance during which we continuously used a pair of walkie-talkies for two weeks. They remained switched on at all times, allowing us to stay in contact from a distance, accidentally intercept other people’s conversations, messages and signals, as well as have ours unexpectedly intercepted. Chance, together with the related element of the “sign”, became one of the components we embraced throughout this process. We shaped parts of this long-duration intimate performance into a sound recording that, through the echoing noise of the walkie-talkies, collages fragments of conversations, games, found historical demographic data, and a short anecdote about Fiorello La Guardia, the New York mayor who spent several years in Rijeka at the beginning of the 20th century. His eyes, together with those of our unnamed colour-blind friend, emerge from the noisy soundscape and gaze across the stripped-down space of Kitchen at MMSU. We gave this period the sonic name Razbojna, after the physical location — a place of leisure, brief anonymous encounters and long, beautiful summer views.
