THE OVERCOAT Pontes Drama Studio The performance “The Overcoat” by the student group of Pontes Drama Studio is based on the famous short story of the same name by Russian writer Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol. At the centre of the play is a humble clerk whose life is transformed by an event that seems insignificant at first – the need for a new overcoat. His personal story grows into a portrait of a society marked by bureaucracy, social inequality, and indifference toward the “little man”.
