THE IDIOT Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky – Ivor Martinić In this new theatre project directed by Janusz Kica, “The Idiot” becomes the starting point for a contemporary dramatic text by Ivor Martinić, inspired by one of the greatest works of world literature – Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky’s novel. Kica’s distinctive directing style – precise, restrained, and deeply focused on the psychology of characters – meets the contemporary voice of a modern playwright, creating a space between literary classic and the present moment. The production explores the human condition through the conflicts between ethics and desire, compassion and selfishness, light and darkness. Just as Dostoevsky examined the inner struggles of 19th-century humanity, the new “The Idiot” reflects the dilemmas and challenges of today’s world.
