PREMIERE: THE IDIOT Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky – Ivor Martinić In September 2026, a new theatre premiere “The Idiot” arrives on stage, inspired by the masterpiece of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and transformed into a contemporary dramatic text by Ivor Martinić, directed by Janusz Kica. This production brings together a great literary classic and a modern theatrical perspective. Kica’s distinctive directing style – precise, restrained, and deeply psychological – meets the contemporary voice of a Croatian playwright, creating a dialogue between Dostoevsky’s world and the present moment. Just as Dostoevsky explored the human condition of the 19th century – torn between ethics and desire, compassion and selfishness, light and darkness – the new “The Idiot” becomes a reflection of our own time and its moral challenges.
