KLAMM’S WAR – Kai Hensel Guest performance by Teatar EXIT The stage welcomes “Klamm’s War”, a powerful monodrama by German playwright Kai Hensel, directed by Dražen Krešić. This psychologically intense performance explores communication, authority, responsibility, and empathy within the education system through the complex relationship between a teacher and his students. A literature teacher enters his classroom intending to give a lesson on Goethe’s “Faust”, but instead of cooperation, he is met with complete silence. His students have declared war on him. The teacher tries to defend himself with his own weaknesses and arguments, while the class attacks through silence. As both sides struggle to understand each other, the line between truth and blame becomes increasingly unclear. With a bitter and thought-provoking tone, the monodrama examines the consequences of lost communication and the absence of empathy, inviting audiences to reflect on the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding. Written in 2000, “Klamm’s War” quickly became one of the most performed contemporary German plays.
