Zajc Route: Lido – Kalvarija – Sušak (active theatres) This interpretive walking tour explores three theatres built during the periods of Historicism, Art Nouveau, and Modernism, all of which remain active today: the Municipal Theatre (today the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc), operating for 141 years; Teatro Thalia (today Kalvarija Cultural Centre), active for 116 years; and the Narodni dom (today HKD Sušak), active for 79 years. The tour also includes the site of the former Adamić Theatre, once the city's grand theatre, as well as several locations of former small performance venues near the Old Town and Kalvarija. Participants will discover where the first theatrical performances took place in Sušak and learn why the town had to wait as long as 22 years to establish its own major theatre.
