Its preparations, teas, ointments, and herbal extracts were part of everyday life for many residents of Rijeka, while its distinctive packaging and advertisements remain lasting traces of an era. At this workshop, participants will explore the museum’s permanent exhibition and learn about the Alga laboratory: its products, original packaging, advertisements, and the ways it combined knowledge of herbal medicine, pharmacy, and everyday urban life. After a short historical introduction, the workshop moves into a hands-on segment — each participant will design their own tea bag packaging using tetrapak as a base for recycled materials. This is followed by preparing and tasting herbal infusions made from medicinal and aromatic plants such as lemon balm, linden, chamomile, elderflower, thyme, yarrow, coriander, marigold, verbena, rosehip, and sage.
