In this STEM workshop, participants will build a special LEGO device that simulates a real earthquake. After that comes the big challenge: can you design and build a house or skyscraper that stays standing while the ground shakes? Test your construction on our earthquake simulator and earn the honorary title of chief engineer of earthquake-resistant structures! Warning: during the workshop, seismic activity is expected in the wider Rijeka area — will your building survive it? :) The workshop is part of the American Corner Rijeka project and is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb. About the facilitator: Mateo Brajek is a pedagogue, drama teacher at the Pygmalion Theatre in Volosko, STEM educator, storyteller, Dungeon Master, amateur gardener, burger master, father, and life partner with extensive experience working with children and youth.
