Embroidered in colourful thread, wall hangings—known as zidnjaci—carried life wisdom, love advice, and everyday sayings. They were both decoration and instruction: cookbooks with a message. In this workshop, participants will: explore historical kitchen objects from the Museum of the City of Rijeka revisit traditional domestic “message culture” create contemporary, humorous versions of wall sayings play with stereotypes around household roles and relationships Using thread, markers, needles—or simply humour—participants will create new interpretations of this domestic tradition.
