Between Heritage and Film in Rijeka: Animated Heritage, Pseudo-Documentary and Banned Films Workshops and lectures As part of the project Between Heritage and Film – Voices of the Community, Teatar od soli and Bacači sjenki, in collaboration with partners Spirit from Rijeka and Kopriva from Koprivnica, are bringing a two-day programme of workshops and lectures to Rijeka, connecting film, animation, personal memories, objects, heritage and critical media literacy. The programme will take place on 8 and 9 July 2026 at Gradska knjižnica Rijeka. Between Heritage and Film is conceived as an educational and creative programme that uses the medium of film to encourage the exploration and understanding of cultural and historical heritage. Its starting point is simple yet important: heritage is not only what is preserved in museums, archives and official histories, but also what lives in objects, stories, voices, family memories, forgotten gestures, local spaces and everyday experiences. At the heart of the Rijeka programme is the heritage animation workshop “Animated Heritage”, led by Marko Zdravković-Kunac and Sanda Letonja-Marjanović from the Pula Film Factory. Participants are invited to bring an object of personal significance — a souvenir, a piece of clothing, a toy, a sculpture, a gift or any other object that carries a story.
